QUAYSIDE MOORING ANALYSIS

Berth compatibility and vessel acceptance for existing or future scenario(s) can be assessed in the following steps:

Identification of design vessel characteristics, including design loading conditions, winch/fairlead location and if applicable: (ec)centric manifold positions
Berthing and fendering analysis to check and/or design dimensioning of terminal infrastructure.
Evaluation of the mooring configuration for selected pretension scenario(s), including verification of mooring line lengths & angles, fender contact with parallel midbody. An example can be seen here.
A (static or dynamic) numerical mooring assessment can be performed to calculate responses for the following use cases in intact and damaged mooring line scenarios:
- Calculating design values of e.g. manifold envelopes and vessel offsets; ship based infrastructure (lines, winch loads), shore based infrastructure (bollard, fendering loads). Usually, the external loading is linked to a return period or a probabilistic event.
- Evaluate mooring safety by performing operability,downtime and/or persistency analysis by comparing responses to limiting criteria and combining results with long term statistics. An example can be seen here.
